Sketch Classes

Classes run for 8 weeks. 7 classes and then conclude with a showcase at Stir Crazy Comedy Club.

This class will teach you the fundamentals of comedic acting and will provide you with a strong base of skills for performing sketch and scripted comedy. It will prepare you for live comedic performance, help you with strong choice making, and prepare you for your next theatrical milestone. We will discuss the individual goals of each student so that we can tailor the course to everyone's specific needs.

Week 3 Creating Relationships
Week 4 Scenes. A beginning, middle and end
Week 5 Running order and your first taste of a show
Week 6 Developing and polishing material
Week 7 The Dry Run
Week 8 Showcase

About The Instructor

Dave Thurston has studied Sketch comedy at The Second City Conservatory in Chicago, The IO Chicago and Annoyance Chicago. He started doing comedy in 1999. He loves teaching, performing and facilitating sketch comedy. He taught and produced sketch comedy for two years all over the valley before finding a home at Stir Crazy. He also produces the Arizona Sketch Comedy Festival. He has performed all over the country from Chicago to LA in a variety of mediums. His students have gone on two work with David Letterman, Stephen Colbert.
